Endocrine System
The Endocrine System controls the release of hormones and enzymes required for the digestion of food. If digestion is compromised, a cascading effect can impact the release of hormones from the liver, pancreas, thyroid, gonads, and, adrenals. Additionally, the digestive system also helps eliminate waste products and toxins from the body, which can affect hormone levels and overall endocrine function
Immune Health
The digestive system plays an essential role in supporting the immune system by breaking down food and absorbing nutrients necessary for your body. The gut has been nicknamed "the second brain" Your body uses the nutrients from the foods you eat to fix damaged cells and make new ones. Your digestive system houses 70 to 80% of your immune system's cells. Therefore, dietary choices can have enormous effects on your immune system. Overall, a healthy digestive system is crucial for maintaining optimal immune
Cardiovascular System
While digestion and the cardiovascular system are not directly related, studies suggest that a healthy digestive system is fundamental to a healthy cardiovascular system. In addition, our foods give us the vitamins and minerals necessary for the heart to carry out its electrical impulses. Furthermore, the energy the heart needs comes from the fatty acids we eat, so it is critical to eat the right balance. Conversely, unhealthy fats, too many processed foods, and excess sugar can contribute to cardiovascular dysfunction.
Detoxification
Digestion plays a vital role in supporting the healthy function of detoxification by breaking down food into nutrients that are needed for the liver to carry out its detoxification processes. Additionally, eating foods containing fiber help to promote regular bowel movements and prevent constipation, which can help to eliminate toxins from the body. "Good health depends on the ability of the blood to perform its functions." Having good health relies on the bodies ability to digest and absorb nutrients and therefore increasing the chance that your blood will flow properly to all your organs and tissues
Nervous System
The digestive system plays a crucial role in supporting the nervous system's healthy function by breaking down food into nutrients that can be absorbed and utilized by the body, including the brain. Nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are essential for producing neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that transmit signals between nerve cells. Additionally, the gut is home to a complex network of nerves which communicates with the central nervous system and influences various bodily functions, including mood, behavior, and cognitive processes.
